Part-time Lecturer – Langara College

The Department of Geography, Langara College (Vancouver, British Columbia)  is looking for a qualified candidate(s) to teach introductory (first year) geography courses in the Fall 2015.

1. Geography 1120 (Regional Geography of Canada): 2 sections (1 double section)(Wed 18:30 – 21:20) 2015-3 (Fall) – Part-Time, Fraction, (50%) of Full-Time

The Department of Geography is looking for a qualified candidate to teach an introductory (first year) human course in the Fall 2015. Geography 1120 is a first year course that introduces students to the regional geography of Canada. The examines the characteristics of and relationships amongst Canadian geo-physical, political, economic, historic, urban and cultural features.

      Required Qualifications: Graduate degree (MA or Ph.D) in human geography. The candidate must have post-secondary teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Prior experience teaching Introductory Human Geography and Canadian Regional Geography is an asset.

Length of appointment: Four months
Start Date: September 1, 2015
Salary Range: Salary placement is on Langara instructors’ salary scale in accordance with qualifications and experience.

2. Geography 1190 (Physical Geography: Geomorphology): 1 section (M, T, W, R 15:30 – 16:20) 2015-3 (Fall) – Part-Time, Fraction (25% of Full-Time), Temporary

      The Department of Geography is looking for a qualified candidate to teach introductory (first year) physical geography courses in the Fall 2015. These are lab science courses involving 3 hours of lecture and 2 hours of lab per week. The instructor teaches in the first hour of the lab class and a lab demonstrator supervises the second hour of the lab.

        Required Qualifications: Graduate degree (MA or Ph.D) in human geography. The candidate must have post-secondary teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Prior experience teaching Introductory Human Geography and Canadian Regional Geography is an asset.

3. Geography 1170 (Introduction to Human Geography): 2 sections (T, R, 10:30 – 12:20 & T, R, 14:30-16:20) 2015-3 (Fall)- Part-Time, Fraction (50%) of Full-Time, Temporary

      The Langara College Department of Geography is looking for a qualified candidate to teach an introductory (first year) human geography course in the Fall 2015. Geography 1170 is a first year course that introduces students to fundament concepts in human geography. The course includes elements of: Basic geographical concepts, population geography, mapping, cultural geography, economic geography, urban geography, environmental geography, political geography and other topics.

        Required Qualifications: Graduate degree (MA or Ph.D) in human geography. The candidate must have post-secondary teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Prior experience teaching Introductory Human Geography and Canadian Regional Geography is an asset.

Length of appointment: Four months
